An Ideal Husband

An Ideal Husband is an elegant adaptation of Oscar Wilde's witty play about the highly respected and honourable politician Sir Robert Chiltern whose career is at stake because of an error of youth. The unscrupulous Mrs. Chevely threatens to publish an incriminating letter if Sir Robert does not publicly support a canal project in Argentine that she has invested in, but Sir Robert is very much against the scheme, so what can he do?
As he is afraid to tell his adoring wife Gertrude, he asks his close friend, the indolent dandy Lord Goring, for help.
The story may take place in the late 19th century, but the parallels to modern politics can not be missed.
Formidable actors in the leads. The part of Lord Goring seems to be tailor-made for Rupert Everett.
