Ronin

Ronin is the Japanese word for a masterless samurai whose life has no meaning after his master has been killed. This we are told at the beginning of the film so nobody can miss the parallel between the "ronin" and post-cold war masterless spies and agents.
Five modern "ronin" of different nationalities are hired by the mysterious Irish Deirdre to get hold of a metal suitcase with an unknown content. That turns out to be easier said than done.
Spectacular car chases and a cast of international stars do not make it up for the film's total lack of depth. The film never takes its audience on a trip under the surface so we never really get to identify with the characters. They remain inscrutable and uninteresting.
