Five Corners

Five Corners both aims at giving a kaleidoscopic portrayal of Brooklyn teenagers in the mid-sixties and at being an exciting drama about a psychopath on parole who abducts a girl from the neighbourhood. The film succeeds at neither, because the secondary plot about teenagers fooling around is not very interesting and slows down the pace of the crime story.
John Turturro plays the madman Heinz, and Jodie Foster is his victim, Linda. Todd Graff and Tim Robbins also play important parts in the drama. What characterizes these actors is that they were in their late twenties or early thirties when the film was recorded. They are meant to play teenagers or young people in their early twenties, but when I see Robbins' Harry or Foster's Linda, they are definitely older than that. Why must it always be like that? Don't teenage actors exist? I think they do.
