Almost Famous

Almost Famous is a partly autobiographical film, a coming-of-age drama, set in the early 1970s when writer-director Cameron Crowe made his debut as a music reviewer for the trendsetting magazine Rolling Stone.
Crowe's alter ego is the 15-year-old William who goes on tour with the promising band Stillwater. He gets so close to the band that he cannot be objective. William alos becomes infatuated with the sweet Penny Lane who calls herself a 'band aid' though others would probably call her by a less flattering name. She is hopelessly in love with Russell, the star in the band, but he merely sees their relationship as a fling.
Crowe's love for the music and the ones creating and performing it runs through the whole film, but like his main character Crowe's version of the era is highly subjective. Everybody is friendly, and jealousy, abuse and disloyalty only plays a minor part.
