U-571

During WW2 Lieutenant Commander Mike Dahlgren and his submarine crew are assigned the task of getting hold of the German Enigma-coding machine.
An American submarine disguised as a German U-boat comes to assist U-571, a damaged German U-boat. Everything goes according to plan as Lieutenant Andrew Tyler and his men take the Germans by surprise and secure the coding machine, but before they get a chance to sink U-571 and return to their own sub, a newly arrived German U-boat sinks the American one leaving Tyler in charge of a disabled, strange U-boat.
U-571 is a nailbiting drama, a rollercoaster ride that never seems to stop. If it would just slow down for a moment or two, this would be a less exhausting film to watch.
The film has been accused of being historically incorrect, but it has a right to be so. Feature films are first and foremost fiction, so if you look for history lessons, watch documentaries instead. (Or read "Enigma" by Robert Harris)
