The King Is Alive

Kristian Levring is the last of the four Dogma brothers to complete his Dogma film. By now the grainy images and the use of nothing but natural lighting sources have become rather wearisome even though Kristian Levring is a visually talented director.
A bus strands in the North African desert. One of the passager goes for help while the rest of them just wait and hope. The heat is unbearable, food and water is scarce, and the waiting is a destructive force. To pass the time and keep everybody from falling apart one of the passengers suggests that they perform Shakespeare's "King Lear".
Excellent acting in a harsh story hampered by its own predictability.
