The Insider

The Insider is a gripping drama based on an authentic story from the amoral and money-grubbing world of the American tobacco industry. Michael Mann's dynamic style is effective and very far from a-fly-on-the-wall documentary.
Jeffrey Wigand, who is a prominent researcher in a big tobacco company, has participated in making cigarettes more addictive, but when he starts having second thoughts about his own and the company's morals, he is fired.
Wigand has been pressured into signing a contract that forbids him to reveal his knowledge, but he is tempted to spill it all when he meets the uncompromising journalist Lowell Bergman from the news programme "60 Minutes". Wigang thinks that people have the right to know the truth, but how high a price is he willing to pay for it?
