Whose Life is it Anyway?

This drama is an excellent adaptation of Brian Clark's play, which is both funny, mostly tragicomic, and moving, but is deeply serious at its core.
Ken Harrison is paralyzed from the neck down after a road accident. The doctors managed to save his life, but Ken realizes that he would rather die than be totally dependent on other people's help for the rest of his life. Even worse, he will never again be able to do what he has been living for most of his life: sculpturing.
Not surprisingly the doctors do not quite see it Ken's way when he asks for permission to die.
Clark's play solely takes place within the hospital, so the filmmakers have added a few extra scenes from outside the hospital to make the film appear more cinematic and less theatrical. However, with the main emphasis on dialogue, the film cannot escape its original source.
