End of Days

End of Days is a pompous and extravagant actionfilm with a rather serious theme: the end of days, or Judgement Day.
The Devil himself arrives in New York in an attempt to change the balance of power between him and God. He will succeed if he has sex with his chosen bride on the last evening of the millennium. 20-year-old Christine York is that woman, and she has no idea what is going on. Fortunately for her, security expert and former policeman Jericho Cane comes to her assistance, but Satan is not an easy adversary!
Considering its silly plot End of Days takes itself much too serious. Arnold Schwarzenegger is just no good as a sensitive world saviour. The film is at its best and its funniest in the scenes with Jericho and his sidekick Chicago. Gabriel Byrne as Satan also has quite a few deliciously malicious and witty lines.
